Drum roll please...

Well, I had a doctor's appointment today and found out that we are having a girl! So pretty hair and toe-nail painting parties it is!

Curious little monkey!

Okay, so this is a funny story, at least I think so. I know some family members have heard it, but along with the story I have posted some pictures to give you a better idea of what was going on.

A few months back I was having the most difficult time finding any bobby pins. Which came as quite a surprise to me as I had just taken half of a new set off the card and put them in my "hair-thing" cup. I use them to pin back my bangs and such when wearing various hairstyles. At night I would take them out and put them on my nightstand (sleeping in bobby pins isn't the most comfortable thing). One day I noticed Luke was playing over by an open cable jack. It has a plastic plate over it, but there is no cable actually attached leaving a small hole. I didn't really think much of it. There is no electricity running to it, and all other outlets have the plastic safety plugs in them...therefore, I went along my merry little way...the boy was entertained. :) Then, on another occasion, Luke went over to my nightstand, grabbed a bobby pin and headed straight for the little hole in the wall where he gleefully slipped the bobby pin inside! Huh! I thought...I wonder how many are in there. Being busy at the moment, I didn't take the time to check. A couple of months went by. Then one day we were getting ready for a trip to Utah so I was cleaning house. Luke was, once again, playing over by the hole in the wall. This time, I went and found a screw driver to take off the plate and see what treasures he had placed in there. When I took off the plate I just started to laugh! Bobby pins! A whole lot of bobby pins! Along with a crayon and a bit to our changeable screwdriver. I emptied everything out and took the bobby pins to the kitchen counter where I laughed even harder to find there were 27 bobby pins hiding in that little hole in the wall. 27 BOBBY PINS!!! Over half the amount that comes on a new card. No wonder I couldn't find any! Needless to say, I no longer put my bobby pins on the nightstand at night! What a curious little monkey! :)

It's been too long...

First of all, let me just apologize that it has taken me sooooo long to update my blog. To be honest, I sort of forgot about the whole thing! :) So here's an update...(brace yourselves)

My last post I had recapped Halloween and here we are with Thanksgiving, Christmans, the New Year and Valentine's day all gone by! I am such a slacker!!! But really, I have a good excuse. On November 11th, Lance and I found out that we are expecting! So you see, the only time that I really have to update my blog is when Luke is taking his nap (otherwise he wants to be on the computer too), and really all I have wanted to do while he is taking a nap is take one myself! But finally today, I put all my selfish sleeping habits aside in an effort to pull all of your frustrated blog followers out of the dark! Aren't I nice? :)

So...I'm due in July (should have planned that one a little better...it's going to be blazing hot here in Texas and I will be in my third trimester...genius...I know). We haven't found out if we are having a boy or a girl yet. Last night Lance asked Luke and he said girl repeatedly so I guess we'll see. I am indifferent, really. I think how fun it would be to have a little girl to dress all cute, fix her hair, and have toe-nail painting parties with, but then I think about how nice it would be for Luke to have a little brother to play with. So, either way, I'm good. Things have been going great so far and we hope they continue to be as such.

Thanksgiving was fun. We went to the Fort Worth Zoo and then ate dinner at Jared and Camille's with Casey and Dawnielle. Everything was delicious which I really appreciated having an appitite on that particular day since I wasn't feeling all that great with the whole morning sickness thing (I lost like 7 lbs).

Christmas we were in Utah, unfortunately everyone was sick! Most got a 24 hour stomach flu (Lance, his brother Justin and Justin's wife Alissa, Mom Satterthwaite and Luke, Lance's brother Brian and all his family, Lance's sister Melinda and all her family, Lance's brother Jon and most of his family). It was a definite damper on all the festivities, but we were still glad to visit with family. Luckily my folks didn't have anything going on so we were able to visit with them quite a bit. I had some other nasty cold with the congestion, cough and all that fun stuff, but luckily and by some miracle, I didn't get the other crud.

The New Year came and went. We spent the night up at Casey and Dawnielle's along with Jared and Camille and their girls. It was fun, but we were always asking what time it was hoping it was time to go to bed...what a bunch of sissies! LOL

We enjoyed a visit from Lance's parents earlier this month. It is always nice to have visitors. We were able to just hang out and enjoy each others company. Luke LOVED having Mimi and Papa here as he is an attention HOG! :) Mimi and Papa were tickeled to give him all the attention he wanted. It was a really nice visit. We are accepting all other potential visitors at any time...wink wink... ;)

As for now, we are just plugging right along. Lance is still loving his job and I am still loving him not having to travel and being able to be at home. Luke turns two next month (March 10) if you can believe that! WHEW!!! He is growing like a weed and is already over three feet tall. He gets mistaken for a 3 to 4-year-old all the time. He is talking up a storm and everyday is learning and putting more words together. Lance is working with him on his Spanish as well so he sometimes throws out a Spanish word here and there.

Things are really going well for us. We are so blessed. I hope that all is well with the rest of you and I will try to do a better job at keeping this thing updated!
